FAQ
How is hit distance calculated?
Hit distance is calculated from home plate to the spot you tap on the field. Tap where the ball landed, and Yard Shots estimates the distance from home plate to that point.
Is this using GPS?
No. Yard Shots does not use live GPS to calculate hit distance. Distances are based on the mapped field shape and the fence measurements entered for that specific field.
How are fence distances measured?
Fence distances are measured from home plate to points along the outfield fence, such as left field, left-center, center field, right-center, and right field.
Why do I need to tap the landing spot?
The app uses your tap location to estimate where the ball landed within the field layout. The closer your tap is to the actual landing spot, the more accurate the estimated distance will be.
Are the distances exact?
Distances are estimates based on field mapping and calibration. Actual distances may vary by a few feet depending on field shape, fence accuracy, and where the landing spot is tapped.
Can I use this for official measurements?
Yard Shots is designed as a helpful estimate for players, coaches, and parents. It should not be considered an official measurement tool.
